MichihiroYamaki founded SIGMA Corporation in 1961 based on the desire to help every photographer produce outstanding imagery and beautifully detailed photographs.
卓越した画像を、際立って精緻な写真を撮りたいと願う、全ての写真家の手助けをしたい。その願いをもって、山木道広氏は1961年にシグマを設立しました。
An optical engineer by trade, Yamaki, a pioneer in the photo industry, developed the first rear attach lens converter, and established SIGMA Corporation.
光学技術者であり、写真産業における開拓者でもある山木氏は、世界最初のリア装着式テレコンバーターを開発し、シグマ社を設立しました。
Over the past50 years, Yamaki’s family owned company has grown to offer the world’s largest selection of camera lenses, and array of ground braking cameras, and a number of flashes and accessories at an affordable price.
以来５０年、山木氏のオーナー企業であるシグマは、世界最多のレンズラインアップを誇る会社へと成長しました。レンズだけではなく、革新的なカメラや、数多くのフラッシュ、アクセサリーを、手頃な価格で提供しています。

Christine Moossmann: People can perceive SIGMA as an underdog. I think that, a lot of times they turned to SIGMA not knowing what to expect, but once they do get the product in hand, and actually used it, I think they are very very surprised what they are able to achieve with the product.

Though SIGMA corporation started as a small lens manufacturer, known for its ultra-wide and tele-zoom lenses, it’s now the largest lens manufacturer in the world,maintaining its commitment to quality and value. Today, SIGMA manufactures more than 50 unique lenses, for 6 different camera systems, in its state of the art facility, the Aizu factory, in Aizu Japan.
超広角レンズや望遠ズームレンズを作ることで知られる、小さなレンズ製造会社としてシグマはスタートしました。今では世界最大のレンズ製造会社となり、高品質で高価値の製品を作ることで社会に貢献しています。現在シグマは日本の会津にある最新の工場で、６つのマウント用に、５０種類以上ものレンズを製造しています。

In SIGMA’s continued pursuit to provide the highest image quality and purity in photography, SIGMA started working with Foveon, manufacturer and designer of the world’s first full color sensor for digital cameras.
ありのままの景色を最高の画質で提供すること。シグマは本物の写真を追求するために、世界最初のフルカラーセンサーを設計、製造したフォビオン社と協力してきました。
Technology
SIGMA purchased Foveon in 2008 and is therefore the only manufacture to utilize the Foveon X3direct sensor technology. This three-layered technology absorbs different wavelength of light in each pixel at different depths. Blue, green, red.Incredible details nothing else can compared.
2008年にシグマはフォビオン社を買収し、フォビオンX３ダイレクトセンサーを使用する唯一のメーカーになりました。３層に分かれたフォビオンセンサーは、ピクセルごとにそれぞれの層で青、緑、赤の異なった波長の光を吸収します。その精緻な画像は、他の方式で作られた画像とは比べ物になりません。
